During the past few years, I've been asked by several friends about how I find cute, quality clothes for reasonable prices. I decided to share a few things I've learned through the years.
(Disclaimer: I am not receiving any compensation whatsoever for this post or any other bargain shopping post I do - it's really important to me that this whole idea is authentic and I don't want to compromise that by adding sponsorships or endorsements.)
With that said, today's topic is:
For those of you that don't know what Zulily is, it's a website that highlights certain products from different brands every day. (This includes clothes and shoes, but much more beyond that.) Usually, a brand will stay on there for a few days, but the important part is that the products included on zulily are MUCH cheaper than retail. Because of this, it has been one of my favorite places to find really great deals.
Here are a couple of key things I've learned:
1. Don't come looking for something specific.
You might find it, but you'll probably be overwhelmed in the process. When you get on Zulily, there is a LOT to see. There are lots of ways to navigate their brands, but it's not the most user friendly if you're on there to find a "little black dress with short sleeves and a v-neck that is just past your knees." It's more of a place to explore new brands and products.
My recommendation: sign up for daily emails and spend a few minutes each morning to see what's new that day. Most days, you won't find anything you like or want (there is a lot of random stuff on there), but once in a while, you'll find something AWESOME. (I Spanx was recently on there and I tried a pair of their leggings for $15. They are now my absolute favorites.) You'll love it a lot more if you go in with the "I'm open to finding a great deal on nothing in particular" attitude.
2. Sign up for notifications for your favorite brands.
Real life example. Here's my shoe collection:
(Sidenote: everything in here except for two pairs came from Zulily, 6pm.com, or "bargainfinds" on instagram, and every single pair was anywhere from 30% to 80% off retail price.)
Yes, there are 14 pairs of Toms in there. Flats, wedges, booties... you can thank my rapidly aging feet for that, because Toms are cute but comfy. The only problem is they are pricy! BUT they go on Zulily 1-2 times per year, and they are heavily discounted. With popular brands like these, the inventory sells out really quickly, which means if you want to find the shoes you want in the size you want, you need to get on first thing in the morning on the first day they are highlighted (usually around 6 am).
The good news is you can sign up to be notified when certain brands are coming. You'll get an email the night before so you known it's coming and you can be prepared.
Click here to find a list of all Zulily brands and choose your favorites so you receive notifications.
If you have any questions, please let me know. I'm happy to answer them!
